The ethical and social dimensions of home-based telemedicine

Crit Rev Biomed Eng. 2000;28(3 - 4):541-4. doi: 10.1615/critrevbiomedeng.v28.i34.330.

Abstract

The growth of home-based telemedicine invites a discussion about the ethical implications of this technology for the traditional goals and moral ideals of medical practice. To this end, I examine the normative connections between home-based telemedicine and the following: (1) health care justice, (2) quality of life for patients and family caregivers, and (3) provider-patient relationships.
