Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis
2012, Clinics in Chest MedicineCitation Excerpt :Pulmonary infiltrates on chest radiograph, peripheral eosinophilia, and serum IgE greater than 1000 ng/mL are also clues suggesting ABPA. Because there are reports of concomitant ABPA and allergic fungal sinusitis,47 the presence allergic fungal sinusitis may warrant evaluation for ABPA.48,49 As discussed previously, radiographic findings of CB, the presence of bronchiectasis in 3 or more lobes, and high-attenuation mucus are all highly suggestive of ABPA (Box 2).
Noninvasive Pulmonary Aspergillus Infections
2009, Clinics in Chest MedicineCitation Excerpt :The treatment consists of corticosteroids and sinus surgery.30 It is thought that some of the same mechanisms may be responsible in both diseases.31–33 The pathogenesis of ABPA is complex and not completely understood.
