Prevalence of congenital heart disease
2004, American Heart JournalCitation Excerpt :Even after surgery, this disease is classified as severe. Untreated survival is low,84–86 with few patients surviving past 1 year of age. Surgical treatment has an early mortality of about 15%, due either to surgery being done too late in the course of the disease, to associated cardiac anomalies, or to pulmonary vascular disease that comes on early in this lesion.87–89
Mixed total anomalous pulmonary venous connection: Case report with bilateral venous collectors
2003, Journal of the American Society of EchocardiographyCitation Excerpt :Cases in which the pulmonary veins from each lung return to 2 separate venous collectors are uncommon. The most common situation reported is that of the pulmonary vein of 1 lung segment draining separately from the other pulmonary veins of the ipsilateral lung and from all pulmonary veins of the other lung.3-11 We present an unusual case of 2 separate venous collectors, one receiving the drainage of the left-sided pulmonary veins and connecting directly to the superior vena cava and the other receiving the drainage of the right-sided veins and connecting to the coronary sinus.
