In COPD patients serum SPD levels may be high.The aim of this study is to compare serum SPD levels between COPD patients and healthy controls, to define the relationship between SPD level and respiratory functions.METHODS:Sixty-four(5F, 59M) COPD subjects(mean age of 63,67{\textpm}9,16 years) and 25(8F, 17M) healthy control subjects(mean age of 53,80{\textpm}8,23 years) were enrolled.Medical history, smoking history, comorbidities were recorded.Arterial blood gases, pulmonary function tests (spirometry, diffusion test, lung volumes),six minute walking test(6MWT) were performed.RESULTS:Subjects were classified according to GOLD spirometric classification as stage 1(1 (1,7\%)patient, stage 2(41(68,3\%) patients),stage 3(12 (20\%)patients), stage 4(6(10\%)patients). Mean serum SPD level was higher in COPD group (171,85{\textpm}113,00) than control group (106,80{\textpm}46,68)(p\<0.05).Serum SPD level was not related to age,BMI,smoking status. There was a significant positive correlation between SPD and pCO2(r:0,325;p:0,02).SPD was negatively correlated with FEV1(L) (r:-0,266, p:0,042),FEV1(\%) (r:-0,324;p:0,013), FEV1/FVC (r:-0,343;p:0,008) and diffusion capacity (r:-0,283; p:0,034).CONCLUSION: In conclusion, serum Surfactant protein D level was higher in COPD patients compared to healthy controls. Serum SPD levels was negatively correlated with FEV1 and diffusion capacity in COPD patients. The pathopysiologic changes may have effects on the circulating SPD levels in COPD.}, issn = {0903-1936}, URL = {https://erj.ersjournals.com/content/44/Suppl_58/P3989}, eprint = {https://erj.ersjournals.com/content}, journal = {European Respiratory Journal} }
