However it most commonly involves the liver followed by the lung, skeletal involvement is reported in only 0,5% to 2% of all cases. Primary hydatid disease originating from the ribs are extremely rare.Diagnosis is generally made through the combined assessment of clinical, radiologic (Figure 1) and laboratory data.We reported a series of 16 patients treated in our departement of thoracic surgery for costal hydatidosis through a period of 15 years.Through this study and a review of the literature we remind of the physiopathological and diagnostical particularities of the costal hydatidosis and it's treatment of choice : combined medical treatment by antihelminthic drugs and radical resection of the rib(s).
