Ninety percent isolates were collected from common wards more than 48h after hospitalization. The blaCTX-M/SHV/TEM genes were examined by PCR and sequencing. The nucleotide sequences were analysed via BLAST program.Results In total, 138 blaCTX-M were detected, including 78 blaCTX-M-14, 19 blaCTX-M-15, 17 blaCTX-M-27, 12 blaCTX-M-3, 4 blaCTX-M-55, 2 blaCTX-M-65, 2 blaCTX-M-24, 2 blaCTX-M-24a, 1 blaCTX-M-38, and 1 blaCTX-M-98. 120 blaSHV were detected, including 45 blaSHV-11, 23 blaSHV-1, 15 blaSHV-12, 7 blaSHV-5, 5 blaSHV-108, 4 blaSHV-28, 3 blaSHV-36, 3 blaSHV2a, 2 blaSHV-2, 2 blaSHV-27, 2 blaSHV-142, 1 blaSHV-1a, 1 blaSHV-26, 1 blaSHV-32, 1 blaSHV-33, 1 blaSHV-38, 1 blaSHV-60, 1 blaSHV-103, 1 blaLEN, and 1 blaLEN-22. Also, 91 blaTEM-1 and 1 blaTEM-135 were detected. 8 blaSHV and 1 blaTEM-135 with the silent base mutations were detected, and none of the blaCTX-M.Conclusions The CTX-M-14, CTX-M-15, and CTX-M-27 were predominant ESBL genes in K. pneumoniae in China. The diversity of blaSHV and blaCTX-M, most silent mutations in blaSHV, and only missense mutations in blaCTX-M may be of significance contributing to epidemiological and clinical challenges.
