During the follow-up, there were 31 deaths. Using logistic regression, each decrease from baseline to Year 1of 1 kg/m2 in BMI in this underweight group was associated with a 51% increased risk of death after controlling for FEV1% predicted and BMI.View this table:Logistic Regression with mortality during Year 2 and Year 3 as dependent variable in underweight subjectsThese findings suggest that for a group of underweight COPD patients, the magnitude of weight change in the previous year is an independent predictor of poor outcome.Funded by GlaxoSmithKline (SCO104960, NCT00292552).
