Disorders in immune system may play an important role in the course of disease in these patients. The aim was to determine peculiarities of the clinical picture and immunologic status in patients with COPD and its combination with CAP.Methods: The study included 30 patients with COPD hospitalized for CAP and 30 patients with COPD exacerbations. Clinical symptoms of the disease, the state of cellular and humoral immunity, phagocytic activity of neutrophils in the blood, production of IL-6 interleukin and tumor necrosis factor (TNF- α) have been determined in the patients under study. In addition the content of C- reactive protein (CRP) was determined in the patients, blood serum. Results: The patients with combined form of COPD and CAP have demonstrated higher intensity of the respiratory symptoms and higher level of CRP in blood serum. Compared to the patients with COPD these patients have shown reduced activity of T-helpers and T-suppressors and increased levels of B-lymphocytes, Ig M, IL-6, and TNF-α. After the course of treatment more marked symptoms of the disease and manifestations of the systemic character, lower amount of NK-cells and Ig G, higher levels of B-lymphocytes, Ig M, IL-6, and TNF-α have been preserved in COPD patients with CAP compared to the patients with COPD.Conclusion: Immunity disorders may be one of the reasons of unfavorable course of the disease in COPD patients with CAP.FootnotesCite this article as: European Respiratory Journal 2019; 54: Suppl. 63, PA2889.This is an ERS International Congress abstract.
