The common causes of hospitalization are pneumonia, hemoptysis, and acute exacerbation in TDL. However, there are few reports on the bacteriological etiology of pneuomonia in TDL.Methods: We retrospectively evaluate 162 patients with TDL at the Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital from January 2004 to August 2015.Results: Pneumonia (132 cases, 39.3%) was the most common cause requiring hospitalization in TDL. Pneumonia etiology was found in 69 cases (52.3%) of the 132 cases. Bacteriological pathogens isolated from pneumonia were in the following oder of frequency, Pseudomona aeruginosa (n=27), Acinetobacter baumannii (n=9), methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (n=9), Klebsiella pneumoniae (n=8), Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (n=4), Streptococcus pneumoniae (n=3), and Escherichia coli (n=2). During the follow-up period, tuberculosis was reactivated in 24 patients (14.8%) and sputum specimens of 13 patients showed positive cultures for non tuberculous mycobacteria.Conclucsions: Bacteriological etiology of pneumonia in TDL is different from community-acquired pneumonia. Pseudomona aeruginosa was the most frequent pathogen. ER -
