We present our results from the last 10 years of Mantoux testing and BCG vaccination in Lakonia Greece.Materials and Methods: All children after parents' approval were evaluated by the respiratory department. Mantoux test was performed and 48 hours later all children with negative test were vaccinated with BCG.Results: 3583 children participated in the program during 2005-2015. 3353 children had negative test. BCG vaccination was performed in 3268 since not all the parents consented for vaccination. 9 children had positive test (induration bigger than 10mm) and 8 had ambiguous (5-9 mm). Children with positive test were evaluated in the pediatrics department and treated for primary infection. Their families were also evaluated and 35 siblings in total with tuberculosis were treated in the respiratory department. 5 children came from immigrant families and 4 from native inhabitants. 210 children were already vaccinated and had positive post vaccination PPD test. Conclusions: A ten year screening program yielded 9 cases of children tuberculosis in Lakonia Greece and identified 35 more adults with unknown infection. Even though BCG is performed in a relative late age in Greece, the screening procedure of Mantoux testing is still useful in the era of migrating populations. ER -
