The aim of this study to identify aetiology in adult patients with bronchiectasis. Methods: Between January 1996 and June 2015 years, the all datas of 319 patients who admitted to specialist bronchiectasis clinic of Cerrahpasa Medical School Pulmonology Department, and diagnosed was confirmed with high resolution computed tomography or multislice computed tomography were evaluated retrospectively. Results: 187 (58.6%) of 319 cases were female, 132 (41.4%) were male. Mean age was 49.0±17.4 years (minimum:15, maximum:83). Mean duration of illness were 19.5±14.9 years. The common aetiologies were; Post infectious (215; 67.5%, 70 of 215 were TB), obstructive lung diseases (28; 8.8%), defects of mucociliary clearance (13; 4.2%), connective tissue diseases (8; 2.4%), immunodeficiencies (5; 1.5%), structural lung conditions (1; 0.3.%), obstruction of single bronchus (1; 0.3%), others (7; 2.1%) and idiopathic bronchiectasis (41; 12.9%).Conclusion: Despite development in antibiotherapy, the most common aetiology for bronchiectasis is post infectious conditions as in previous years. Also the rate of unknown aetiology has dropped to 12.9 % from 50%'s with the development in diagnostic test and procedures.
