We aimed to identify factors associated with walking less than 30 min/day in COPD patients. Methods: Pooled analysis of data from 4 observational, multicentre studies in which daily walking time was gathered from a personal interview. Socio-demographic, clinical and functional data were collected. Multivariate logistic regression models were built in order to identify factors associated with walking less than 30 min/day.Results: Data were available for 6.293 patients. Most of the patients were male (86%) with a mean (SD) age of 67.4 (9.6) years and FEV1 of 51.7 (17.2)%. Median (p25-p75) daily walking time was 60 (30-90) min/day. Variables independently associated with walking less than 30 minutes/day were age (OR: 1.01), dyspnoea (modified medical research council-mMRC scale>2) (OR:2.04), the Charlson comorbidity index (OR:1.12), FEV1 (OR:0.99), the presence of depression (Hospital Anxiety and depression scale-HADs) (OR:1.87) and COPD hospital admissions in the previous year (OR:1.08) Conclusion: COPD patients reporting lower walking times are those with more dyspnoea, more comorbidities, higher airflow limitation, presence of depression and hospitalizations due to COPD exacerbation. Specific measures should be implemented in these patientsSponsors: Esteve, Ferrer and Uriach.
