The FBSC training of AIP physicians has not been established yet. FBSC workshops for AIC specialists guided by pulmonologists seem to be reasonable.Aim: We have created a team of pulmonologists and AIC specialists with experience of FBSC in AIC and started to organize workshops "FBSC for AIC specialists" registered in the Czech Medical Council. It includes a hands-on videobronchoscopy on a cadaver, which is specially preserved according to Prof. Thiel, keeping a native appearance of tissue suitable for the FBSC training. The participants complete a questionnaire survey maping their FBSC experience. Methods: The questionnaire contains 9 questions focused on a type of hospital, specialty, bronchoscopy equipment, staffing and personal experience. Results: Nov. 2012 - Oct. 2014 we organized 8 FBSC workshops for 105 participants. From 85 questionnaires we obtained eg. following data: at only 1/4 of AIC departments FBSC is performed by AIC physicians, at the rest pulmonologists are involved. AIC physicians alone perform FBSC mostly (55%) in regional hospitals, more than 80% of ICUs own bronchoscope, FBSC is available 24 hours only in 81% hospitals. Conclusions: FBSC should be available 24 hours in every hospital. Education of AIC specialists is one of the possibility how to enlarge the pool of physicians performing FBSC. We present our experience with the FBSC workshops for AIC specialists which are valuable particularly because of the hands-on training on specially preserved cadaver.
