This study is based on national health insurance claim(ICD : J45, J46. Age : 0-18 years), air pollutants(PM10(μ/m3), CO(ppb), SO2(ppb), NO2(ppb), O3(ppb)) and climate(temperature(°C), humidity(%), visibility(km), wind Speed(m/s), air pressure(hPa)) data from 2006 to 2011 in seoul and incheon, Korea. The daily maximum value of air pollutants and daily average climate were selected. Daily count of pediatric asthma case on the event days were compared with count on control days. We selected two control days for each event day, 7 days before the event days and 7 days after the event days. Daily count of pediatric asthma case and air pollution were modeled using poisson regression. Results: 5 event days were identified. The estimated ratio of event days for the daily count of pediatric asthma case was 1.47(95% C.I. : 1.44-1.51) and the ratio of event days for the daily maximum value of PM10 was 1.98(95% C.I. : 1.85-2.12). Conclusion: Asian dust events are associated with pediatric asthma and air pollution. ER -
