It means that the detection is fairly late and risks groups are not actively screened.Aim: Timely detection of all diagnosable TB cases which will assist in reduction of respiratory TB incidence in Tomsk Oblast. Methods: The program included 6 raions of the oblast (128 thousand people). The following actions have been taken: training of the workers from general medical services in main measures and tools used for timely TB detection, development and distribution of information materials on TB, coverage of issues on timely TB detection in mass media, home visits and questioning to identify risk groups, fluorography screening and sputum collection in TB risk groups. Results: During the program implementation in raions the incidence of pulmonary TB cases increased almost twice (114 and 223 per 100 000 population), the detection rate in risk groups increased twice and the active TB detection increased 2.7 fold. Conclusion: Activities related to active TB detection in risk groups result in significant increase of early TB case finding among new cases.
