Despite disruptions caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, tuberculosis (TB) is still one of the top causes of death from an infectious disease, killing more than 1.6 million people worldwide every year [1]. TB is curable with prompt detection and appropriate treatment, but it is estimated that over 30% of TB cases go undiagnosed annually [1]. Early diagnosis is crucial for optimal TB outcomes, especially among those most vulnerable to the disease, such as people living with HIV (PLHIV), who experience higher rates of death from TB than those who are HIV negative [1].
