Abstract

Relevance: Seasonal influenza is an acute respiratory infection caused by influenza viruses. Children catch flu more often than adults. The only way to fight the flu is a specific immunoprophylaxis.

The aim of work is to analyze the relation of parents to vaccination against seasonal influenza virus (SIV).

Materials and methods: Two hundred three parents who visited pediatricians in the clinic in 2017-2019 were interviewed. Their average age was 34.7 years. The majority of parents (83.6%) graduated higher school.

Results: It was revealed that 39.9% of the respondents have positive attitude towards vaccination, 23.65% vote for mandatory vaccination, but do not have their children vaccinated due to different reasons (child's illness, fear of complications, allergies). 12.3% of the respondents have an uncertain attitude, 5.4% - find the vaccination dangerous, 9.85% - ineffective and 8.9% parents think the vaccination dangerous and ineffective.

Conclusions: One of the problems of vaccinating children is the lack of knowledge about the flu. This issue has to be analyzed much deeper since it is an important epidemiological, social, medico-economic and information problem.
