Abstract
According to WHO, the world's recorded more than 300 million patients with asthma, it means that more than 5% of the world population have this pathology. A certain role in progression of the disease is given comorbidity, among which a special place belongs to obesity. The GINA indicated obesity as one of the main risk factors for asthma and worsening of disease control.
Aim: to study the role of eNO-synthase (eNOS) gene polymorphism in patients with asthma and obesity.
Material and methods: The study group involved 61 patients with asthma and obesity and comparison group 42 patients with isolated asthma at the age of 41.7 ± 6.9 and 40.3 ± 6.2 years old, respectively. Study of eNOS gene polymorphism showed that in patients with isolated asthma corresponded of genotypes were: TT genotype was detected in 52.4%, the CT genotype - in 28.6%, and the patological CC genotype - in 19.0% cases. In study group TT genotype set in 11.5% of cases, CT - in 41.0% and CC - in 47.5%. Thus, the combination of the asthma and obesity lead to the increasing mutations of eNOS gene. The conducted study of anamnestic and clinical data of patients of the study group showed that the onset of the disease in patients with pathological CC genotype of eNOS gene occurs more often after the age of 30 years (34.5%) and characterized with the fast development of severe pathology and refractory to therapy forms.
Conclusions: Development of asthma often occurs in patients with a mutation of the gene eNOS.Joining obesity increases the number of patients with abnormal genotype, which is reflected in the worsening of course of disease.
