In table 2 of the aforementioned article from the January 2016 issue of the European Respiratory Journal, there were some errors in the confidence intervals regarding the variable smoking. The correct estimates should have been the following.

For all patients; multivariate analysis:

Current smokers: 1.18 (1.09−1.28) instead of 1.18 (0.94−1.03)

Former smokers: 1.06 (0.98−1.16) instead of 1.06 (0.97−1.13)

For resected lung cancer patients; multivariate analysis:

Current smokers: 1.25 (0.87−1.80) instead of 1.25 (0.87−1.01)

Former smokers: 1.07 (0.73−1.57) instead of 1.07 (0.73−1.26)

Table 2 has been corrected and the online version of the article updated.
