Abstract
Spirometry is an essensial tool for diagnosis and control of respiratory diseases. Its use in primary care is reported in several studies not to be as good as expected. In 2005 we conducted a study for asess the frecuency of use and quality of spirometry in our community (1). We found a very low use and some technical and accuracy problems. An improvement plan was adopted (mainly foccused on educational and resources aspects)
Our aim is to evaluate how this plan has changed the main problems found before
Methods: we carried out a survey to all centers of Primary Care in Navarra similar to the one we did ten years before.
Results: We summarize then in table 1.
Conclussion:
-We have found a clear improvement in equipment availabilty, professional knowledge, and quality of practices
-Number of spirometries still remains very low ,without significant changes in these years
-More and different improvement plans should be necessary to extend the use of spirometry in primary care centers in our community
