Abstract
Introduction: Pulmonary artery embolism (PE) are common postoperative complication, but in patients who received surgical cut in their pulmonary artery, turbulent flow gives rise to pulmonary artery thrombosis (PT).
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical features of PT.
Methods: Medical records from Jan 1st, 2008 to Jan 1st, 2015 were retrospectively reviewed to detect PT cases. There were 13 patients, but 6 were excluded because 3 were sudden onset, 3 weren't examined proximal vein compressive lower-extremity ultrasound (CUS). The remaining 7, who seemed to develop PT rather than PE, were included.
Results:
There were no symptoms related to PT. 6 received anticoagulant soon after PT was found, but 1(case7) received anticoagulant after PT progressed. There's no adverse event related to the therapy.
Conclusion: All PT cases were asymptomatic, found accidentally, seemed to have no clinical significance. However, PT gradually developed in 1 case without anticoagulant, so PT might be treated if thrombus progresses.
