Analysis of the cells in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) in the asthma model, asthma-splenic mononuclear cells (SMNC), asthma T-helper cell type 1 (Th1), Th1 alone, and PBS group mice. The asthma model mice showed a marked eosinophilia in the BALF. The transfer of Th1 cells but not SMNC to these model mice decreased the number of eosinophils. However, the Th1 cells increased the total number of cells in the BALF with an increased number of macrophages, lymphocytes and neutrophils. The results are expressed as mean±sd of 6–7 mice.
