    Summary of therapy for melioidosis

    Initial intensive therapy, minimum of 14 days
     Ceftazidime, 50 mg·kg−1 up to 2g, every 6 h
     or Meropenem, 25 mg·kg−1 up to 1 g, every 8 h
     or Imipenem, 25 mg·kg−1 up to 1 g, every 6 h
     +/− Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, 8/40mg·kg−1 up to 320/1600 mg, every 12 h
    Eradication therapy, minimum of 3 months
     Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, 8/40 mg·kg−1 up to 320/1600 mg, every 12 h
     +/− Doxycycline, 2 mg·kg−1 up to 100 mg, 12 h
