Read the new ERS guidelines on transbronchial lung cryobiopsy in the diagnosis of interstitial lung diseases here

  • An emerging phenotype of pulmonary arterial hypertension patients carrying SOX17 variants
PAH due to SOX17 variants is a severe phenotype associated with CHD, haemoptysis and radiological anomalies. Histopathology shows severe pulmonary arterial remodelling and malformations affecting pulmonary vessels and systemic arteries.
  • Plasma cell but not CD20-mediated B-cell depletion protects from bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis
This study published in the ERJ shows that ortezomib-mediated depletion of plasma cells but not anti-CD20-mediated B-cell depletion inhibits bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis, suggesting that plasma cells may be a therapeutic target for IPF
