    Primary spontaneous pneumothorax occurs in persons without underlying lung disease. It commonly occurs in tall, thin males between the ages of 10 and 30 years and rarely occurs in persons older than 40 years [13–15]. For patients treated conservatively (observation, needle aspiration, or chest tube drainage), the average recurrence rate is 30% (16% to 52%) [2, 7].
