2006, Clinics in Occupational and Environmental MedicineCitation Excerpt :Synthetic fibrous materials, such as refractory ceramic fibers that replaced asbestos in many applications, are an ongoing exposure interest. Associations between synthetic fibrous materials exposure and disease have been investigated by several researchers [40–43]. Fiber size and composition are of great interest with respect to exposure and disease, which requires continual evaluation to ensure that workers are adequately protected.
