A total of 10 coils were unilaterally implanted in a single lobe. 7 patients received additional treatment of a contralateral lobe. At 90 days follow-up changes in pulmonary function tests (PFT), 6-Minute-Walk-Test (6MWT) and modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) dyspnea scale, as well as possible complications were recorded. Results: Forced expiratory volume in the 1st second (0.70±0.20L vs 0.75±0.23L, p:0.009), vital capacity (2.0±0.70L vs 2.30±0.77L, p<0.001) and residual volume (6.33±1.510L vs 5.90±1.52L, p:0.006), all improved at 90 days significantly. 6MWT (224±101m vs 263±86m, p<0.001) and mMRC (3±1 vs 3±1, p:0.003) also improved.Complication rate was 57% (n=28) in a total of 49 procedures. No mortality has been observed. Light, self-limited hemorrhage occurred in 10 patients (20%) and lung infection that required oral antibiotics in 6 patients (12%). Significant complications included: hemorrhage in 3 patients (6%), which in 1 case required lobectomy, lung infection treated with intravenous antibiotics in 6 patients (12%) and pneumothorax requiring chest–tube draining in 3 patients (6%), which in 2 cases required further surgical treatment due to lung perforation by coils. From the 3 patients that required surgical complication management, 2 were patients that received coil treatment for the second time. Conclusions: Endoscopic LVRC improved PFT, 6MWT and mMRC up to 90 days post intervention, however a significant complication rate has been noted in our institute which needs further elucidation.
