Therefore it is essential that smokers quit smoking.Aims and Objectives: Results obtained in a Tobacco Cessation Unit in 2010.Material and Methods: Retrospective descriptive analysis of the results obtained from patients who were attended to in a Tobacco Cessation Unit from 1st. January to 31st. December 2010 and subsequent follow-up to complete a year.Results: 314 of 462 patients (50,6% males); 158 patients started treatment (55,7% females) and only 71 (44,9%) completed it, mean age 47,1 years and mean cigarettes/day 24,6. Moderate nicotine dependence (Fagerstrom 5,9) and high motivation (Richmond 8,2). Respiratory comorbidity, 31,6%: 15,2% COPD, 7,6% asthma, 7,6% OSAHS, 2,5% Tuberculosis, 0,6% Home Oxigen Therapy and 1,3% Interstitial Lung Disease; Cardiac, 3,2%: Ischemic Cardiophaty, 2,5%, Arrhytmia, 3,8% and Hearth Failure, 2,5%; CVRF: 29,7% dyslipidemia, 21,5% HT and 8,2% DM. 44,9% psychiatric comorbidity, 41,8% depression and/or anxiety. 10,1% without treatment, 30,4% Nicotine Replacement Therapy (TSN), 14,6% bupropion (BUP), 34,8% varenicline (VRN), 3,1% TSN + BUP, 5,1% TSN + VRN, 1,3% VRN + BUP and 0,6% TSN + VRN + BUP . Of the 158 patients treated, success (one year without smoking) in 53 (33,5%), 18 males and 35 females, and failure, considered as abstinence never, in 20 (12,7%), 12 males and 8 females.Conclusions: 1. 65,81% did not start treatment (32,04% and 33,77%, first and second appointment respectively). 2. Moderate nicotine dependence and high motivation. 3. Severe comorbidity, especially psychiatric, respiratory and CVRF. 4. Treatment success in 53 patients (33,5%) and failure in 20 (12,7%).
