The patients (n=103, men 90, mean age 68.8 years), excluded receiving anti-arrhythmia medications, underwent pulmonary function tests, 24 hr-ECG, echocardiogram, LAA% and 6 minutes walking test (6MWT).Results: 24-hour heart rate increased with FEV1%pred (r=-0.337, p<0.001). Both frequency of SVPC and PVC were significantly associated with severity of airflow obstruction; the SVPC and PVC for FEV1%pred (odds ratio 1.030, 95%CI 1.01-1.05, p<0.001) and (1.036, 1.01-1.05, p<0.000), respectively. The frequency of PVC increased with LAA% (0.957, 0.92-0.98, p<0.003), pressure of right ventricle (0.917, 0.85-0.97, p<0.003) and nadir oxygen saturation in 6MWT (1.114, 1.03-1.21, p<0.006). Whereas, the frequency of SVPC increased with LAA% (0.971, 0.94-0.99, p<0.03). The frequency of SVPC was significantly associated with taking medications, including anti-cholinergic (0.286, 0.12-0.64, p<0.003),β2 agonist (0.267, 0.10-0.63, p<0.003) and theophylline (0.208, 0.06-0.60, p<0.004), respectively, but not with PVC.Conclusions: Frequency of SVPC and PVC increases with severity of COPD. Increased of PVC frequency is affected by right ventricular pressure and hypoxemia on exertion. And increased of SVPC frequency is affected by use of bronchodilators.
