In this study 200 children with diagnosed asthma aged 4-11 were included and anonymous standard questionairies completed by the parents and the children were used. The questionairies were given while the children were visiting our consultative practice in the Institute for respiratory diseases in children, during the regular control examinations. We were using the standard Asthma Control Test, with five additional questions concerning the parents' education level and the social status. From the two hunderd children included, 132 had Asthma test score (ATS) above 19 (65.7%). Among them 74.3% (98) were aged 7-11 and 25 .7% (34 children) aged 4-6. In the younger group, 33.3 % (11 children) had well controlled asthma (AST>19), in comparison with 74.3% (73 children) from the older group. 42% of the children are considering their disease well controlled and are feeling good at the certain moment. For 45.7% of the children their asthma is not a problem that interfere with their daily activity activities. 60 % of the children didn't wheeze or wake up during the night because of the asthma.Among the parents included in the study, 49.9 % had high school education, 34.1% university education, and 20 % of them with only elementary school finished. 68% of them were employedConclusion: The asthma in our country is getting under control, facing the fact that we are developing country. The asthma is better controled in the older children, as a result of the well education of the parents by the physicians as the child grows and the compliance to the therapy.
