It is necessary to take into account the psychopathologic profile to choose the correct treatment of asthmatics.Aim: to study the structure of psychopathologic symptoms in asthmatics. Methods: 137 patients with mild-to-severe BA (35 men and 102 women), aged 19-69 took part in the research. The initial estimation of symptoms was carried out with the help of the questionnaire Symptom Checklist-90-Revised by L.R. Derogatis (SCL-90-R).Results: The characteristics of symptoms intensity in the groups of mild, moderate or severe BA turned out to be the same (p>0.05). The symptoms of psychopathologic level were observed in more than 36% cases (till 68% by the SOM scale). The mean values of all the scales were higher than the norm. 68% of patients had high characteristics of positive symptom total (PST), indicating a diverse psychopathologic symptoms (an average of 1.49±0.04). 54% of the patients had a high global severity index (GSI), the mean value was 0.76±0.04. High levels of positive symptom distress index (PSDI) were found in 68% of patients (the mean value was 41.6±0.003). According to the obtained data BA patients tend to have somatization (SOM), they are anxious (ANX, PHOB, O-C), depressed (DEP, I-S), and irritable (HOS, PAR, PSY).Conclusion: BA patients have a great number of diverse psychopathologic symptoms, psychic distress, psycho-emotional overstrain, the decrease of life activity and worsening of health. The application of SCL-90-R questionnaire allows to choose the right tactic in defining the psychosomatic profile of asthmatics taking into account the clinical picture of the disease.
