Before surgery, the development of PAH was confirmed by echocardiography. Rats were randomized for renal denervation or sham operation. At the end-of-study right ventricular (RV) pressure-volume measurement and histological analysis was performed on lung tissue.Results: Renal denervation was successful, confirmed by a reduction of kidneys norepinephrine content. In renal denervated rats, compared to sham, RV pressure-volume analysis showed significant reduction in: RV afterload (Figure 1A-1B) and RV end-diastolic elastance (12{\textpm}2 vs. 22{\textpm}3 MCT; 11{\textpm}1 vs. 17{\textpm}3 SuHx; mmHg/ml; p\<0.01), whereas RV contractility remained unchanged. The extent of pulmonary vascular remodeling was significantly less in the renal denervated rats (Figure 1C-1D).
